Made the mistake of arriving in Costa Rica on Valentine's Day without having made dinner reservations. Our party of four was quickly seated at Casa del Mar restaurant anyway, after we were turned away at Papagayo's, across the street. Individual dining areas are on one side of the hotel's pool. The dining tables are giant irregularly-shaped slabs of polished wood - great conversation piece. Each dining space is defined by gauzy white tie-back sheers that gently fluttered in the breeze, adding to the suggestion of coolness already established by being near the pool. The cold beer that arrived soon after we were seated made it even better! We each ordered red snapper with individual choice of sauce, served with a salad. Nice venue for dinner that we probably would not have noticed if we had not been turned away by a much better known restaurant. Both service and food were good.
