a kind of strange question but how

do the people of this region react to gays and same gender couples? I know that some latin american countries do not encourage gay travelers to come there and wanted to check what kind of reception we would recieve there as there will be a gay couple traveling with us.

depends on where you go , try Quepos , nicknamed Gaypos , their are some very opened minded people in that town , along time ago , Timothy Leary and the brotherhood of eternal love had a hash lab there , maybe thats why the people are mellow

Dosbrazos is right, Quepos is the San Francisco of Costa Rica in that regard, but I find that in general, Ticos are pretty easy going about it.

thanks for the replies, I didnt mean to sound as though we are looking for a more gay centered destination as our group will be mostly straight couples and kids with one or two gay couples. I just wanted to check local attitudes about this issue to make sure there would be no problems.

thanks again for the replies.

it should not bother you at all, there is no discrimination of gays, nobody hates them. Costa Rica is a country where everybody is relaxed and everything is Pura Vida! I live in Tamarindo, work in travel, saw many gay couples - they had a good time here.
