Arenal tours

Hello,

We will be staying at Arenal Observatory lodge from April 28th until May 1st. We will arrive to Arenal area late on 4/28 and will have to leave early on 5/1 to catch a plane to Osa Peninsula. What activities would you suggest and how we should go about booking tours?

Thanks

Desafio is one of the best for tours up that way - http://www.desafiocostarica.com/

I really dig kayaking myself, Lake Arenal is great for that. Check out La Fortuna Waterfall while you are up that way. Project Asis is a very cool project in the area. Rio Celeste hike is another good one.

So much to do there, tough to say whats best, all depends on the individual. More will chime in soon.

Cheers

Some of our favorites are ziplining at Sky Trek, hiking the waterfall that Incabod mentioned, and visiting the natural hot springs. Also love the Cano Negro tour but not sure if you have time for that.

How far is LaFortuna waterfall from AOL? Also I was thinking about hiking Arenal one day and go to hot springs the other day. We will be in Osa for 5 days so was thinking do zip lining there. Which hot springs would you recommend, I was reading about Tabacon. Also do you think we can do hike and hot springs in one day?

Thanks

You can go to the hot springs in the evening after the weather has cooled off; that will leave the day open for any activity you want to do. Our favorite hot spring is Eco Termales because they limit the number of people who can enter so it doesn't get crowded; they also serve a good chicken dinner there, and it's very charming. Tabacon is more elaborate and it is beautiful but it can get crowded. Either of those two would be a good choice. Sky Trek has some of the longest highest lines in the country and beautiful views of the lake and the volcano. If you want a wow experience, I'd try to do it. Just my personal opinion, but I'd rather hike the waterfall than the volcano, especially since there's no current lava flow. The waterfall is beautiful, and you can swim in the river there.
