5 days on Costa Rica

Hi,

My wife and I are planning a 5 day trip for New years. We don't know anything about Costa Rica except we hear a lot of good things. We need help with hotel recommendations. We want to be on the beach as we are sun worshipers, but we also are looking to do hiking, zip lining, and other outdoor, land activities. The wife would prefer a spa type hotel but that is not a deal breaker. Thanks in advance for any help.

Since you only have 5 days, land at SJO early head for Manuel Antonio or Puerto Viejo Area on the Caribbean side(rainy season this time of year, but we have gone the last few years with good luck), or land in Liberia and head for Tamarindo area. lots more resort type places to stay.

Hi,

There are many great places, but to be very honest with you, 99% of them are booked.

What is your price range, and in your case, you would have to look off the beaten paths, that's all that's left.

Hope this helps,

We stayed in the Mal Pais/Santa Teresa area in August. We did a lot of the activities you are talking about. They have fabulous beaches, horseback riding, zip lines, hiking in the national park and lots of great activities. We also did deep sea fishing. Check out the locations!

There are several B&Bs, so you may get lucky for New Years! We stayed at the Red Palm Villas and loved it. There were several B&Bs and some new hotels in the area.

Enjoy Costa Rica! It's amazing.

For hotel reservation Mariana may be right about most places being already booked, but Tamarindo has so many newly-built condos and vacation villas available this year. Good odds finding one here, but book now.
