Shanghai to Chongqing

Can anyone recommend a 7 day itinerary. Am I able to go on a cruise/3 day gorge trip or see Pandas on this?

Hi, There:

In 7 days traveling from Shanghai to Chongqing. Please see follows:

Day1: Arriving in Shanghai

Stay in Shanghai.

Day2: Shanghai City Tour covering the colonial heritage tour-Bund, Yu Yuan Garden and the old town market. The Hop-on / Off bus is one of the best ways to get around the town. Visit French Concession.

Stay in Shanghai

Day3;Visit the Shanghai Musuem. Fly to YiChang then ( There is a flight departing early afternoon to YiChang city. This is where you board on the cruise.

Stay on the cruise

Day4: Sets sail in the morning. Visit the dam in the morning. Sailing through the 5-stage twin way shiplocks. This is also the day you see the XiLing Gorge.

Stay on the cruise

Day5: Shore excursion to one of the tributaries of the Yangtze river.

Stay on the cruise

Day6: Visit Fengdu Ghost City. Continut sailing. Cruise arriving in ChongQing at night.

Stay on the cruise.

Day7: Disembark in the morning after breakfast. transfer to the airport for your onward journey.

This is an itinerary of upstream sailing that you stay on the cruise for 4 nights. this allows you to see all the highlights in the day. because the downsream sailing goes through the shiplock in the evening and through some of the highlights in the evening as well.

ChongQing is a huge city that you can easily choose flights to almost all other destinations in China.

Hope this might be helpful.

Another warning is when touring around in shanghai on your own. Stay away from any strange young ones who come up to claim that they want to practice their English with you, or they are either art students inviting you to tea ceremony or a so called art gallery. They look inocent, but end up doing a dirty business of raping you off.

Have a great time. Yangtze Cruise is relaxing and nice. Especailly sitting on the sun deck, or in the balcony with a cold drink. watching people's life, villages, landscapes along the river....etc.
