Dragon Boat Festival in Shanghai- what to see?

We will be in China during the Dragon boat Festival this year. Most likely Shanghai at that time. Is there anything in particular we should try to see or do? Is it best to experience it in a large city or in the country side?

Will most sights, restaurants and shops be open during this time? Thanks very much!

Nothing ever closes in China except for a day or two at Chinese new year.

You can go to the Yuyuan Garden during that time. And yeah, all of the shops and restaurants will be still open. Have a good trip!

If not familiar with language or culture, and purely just want to see the country, big city for few days will be good to start, as there are some small towns around where you want to see bit of local. Shanghai can be a good choice, or maybe Xi an if want to see the Yangtze River and warriors. Not much events related to dragon festival here in SH, and don't worry barely nothing close during all holiday.
