Coffee is not cheap. There are Starbucks, and they cost slightly more than here (neglible difference). Coffee in McDonald's or any Chinese places are horrible. Don't bother. If you stay in a 5 star hotel like Westin or Hyatt, they have good coffee. Be prepared to pay Starbuck's price. A cheap meal, say eating in the food court of a shopping mall, can be $5 (for a big bowl of noodle), or $10 for quite a good meal. Keep in mind, this is still "fast food" like. Hard to say how much a good meal will cost. If you are looking at Chinese food, and a really exclusive place, it will probably cost you $50/person. For example, at the But there are so many choices, it's very difficult to say. For example, if you go to Wang Bao He (in Shanghai), you can have a very nice meal for $25/person. If you want to have a good Western food, that will cost you $100/person, and it won't be very good. Whatever you do, don't drink the Chiense wine. They are terrible. Waste of money. Drink beer.

Mac Donalds the world over are a very similar price.

So if you want to eat like a local, dumplings, noodles, rice and vegetables it will be one third the cost of M.

Coffee is western, tea is Chinese, tea comes with a meal for a few cents.

If you shop at a nearby supermarket which are in 500mtrs of any hotel, softdrinks and snacks are less than a third of UK.

T-Shirts, good one, 5 ponds, Diesel jeans, 20 pounds.Good Jacket,15-30 pounds.

Please don't come to China and eat Mac Donalds.

There are even Indian and Thai restaurants in China that would be half the price of your local.

No they are not. Of the 30 countries surveyed, China has the lowest prices, while Switzerland has the highest, where a big Mac costs almost 4 times as much as in China.

China definitely has the cheapest beer in the world, even cheaper than Russia.

In Shanghai it is possible to buy local bottles, around 600ml for 1.5rmb,that is what in pounds,if a pound = 11.5rmb.

Bought warm from a Chinese supermarket with a return bottle.
