Restaurant in Shanghai? - to Shanghai experts and not only

I will be travelling to Shaghai in mid-August for a business trip and my 26th brithday falls on one of the Saturdays.....!!

Could you recommend any place to celebrate it over a dinner - trendy but not overly expensive (budget is about USD60 per person incl alcohol), preferrably in Pudong (staying there).

We will be circa 6 people of 25-32 age...

Any recommendations welcome;)

Thanks a lot!

Hi, Bukish,

I suggest you may celebrate at Binjiang Avenue and you can choose the pub . I suggest this because:

1- it is within your budget.

2- In pudong area

3- you can enjoy the huangpu river and Shanghai Bund's night scenery.

Yours sincerely,

South Beauty inside the SuperBrand Mall (10th floor)- excellent food and atmosphere and as a bonus tremendous views to the BUnd (book a table with window view in advance). Located on the Pudong side. You may even get an added touch of a live goldfish in a glass (decoration). It is a trendy place and great value for money Excllent place for people of your age group too.

If you are staying at Pudong then my suggestion is Shang Palace at the Shangri-La Hotel. (2nd Level, however there is no view but the food is fab !).

"Simply Thai" has three branches, one is in Pudong, about a 10-15 minute taxi ride from most hotels. One is just west of downtown. The servers and menu are English friendly. The staff is highly trained and service oriented. The food is excellently presented and very tasty. Prices are high for Shanghai, but well within your budget.

I found it to be a trendy, youthful place.

You mentioned you wanted the VIEW of the Bund and river. I second Xiantraveller on South Beauty. Can I suggest that you book ahead of time. If you do venture over to the Puxi side, New Horizon's on 7th flr at Bund 3 has a great view and good fusion food! Theres' a good sized bar with music too. And there is of course "M on the Bund" on the opposite corner to Bund 3 but it's pricey. Definitely need to book there!

Hope you have a great BIRTHDAY!

New Heights, Jean George, Laris. When will you ever have the opportunity to visit these restaurants at a Shanghai price? On the other side of the river but overlooking Pudong

The Peace Hotel is a must, just off the Bund. The restaurant (Think it's called the Baton Dragon) at the top of the hotel serves excellent food, and if I remember correctly, not that expensive.
