Spending Money on Treasure Island

Hi,

Could anyone advise what sort of money my partner and I would need for five nights on Treasure Island? We would like to do activities that are available, and not "skimp". Our accommodation is paid for as are our flights and transfers. So its just the spending money we need assistance with.

Any comments/advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

The prices for meal plans & activities are all listed on Treasure Island's website. When we were there last year, we charged everything back to our room & payed by credit card upon check out. The highlight of our stay was the snorkelling - just amazing! Enjoy your holiday :)

You will need Fijian money for buying souvenirs at a village. We also use it for purchasing water, drinks, and meals at the airport while waiting for our flight home. Find it cheaper than paying credit card fees for small charges. We take about 200FD.

Drinks at resorts can be pricey. Recommend taking the amount of alcohol allowed by customs or buying it at duty free to keep the price down. We also take a small first aid kit with bandaids, anti-itch spray for bites, antibiotic cream for cuts, waterproof bandaids, aspirin, and something for an upset stomach as we are eating foods we aren't use to. The following link may be of help. It has other suggestions of what to take with you.

We recently took a day trip to Treasure Island while staying at Navini. Send me your e-mail address in a private message, if you would like to see pictures. They will give you a good idea of the grounds, pools, kids club, bures, etc.

Just returned from 6 days on Treasure Island, and loved it.

We brought a half meal package (breakfast and dinner) which I think was F$96 per day for 2 of us. There is also a full meal package (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner ) for F$125.

We felt this was good value, and certainl;y worked out cheaper than paying the alacarte price for the meals. The only drawback is that you feel you have to have the meal, because you have payed for it, when sometimes we would quite happily have skipped the occasional meal.

Drinks are quite expensive, and I endorse the suggestion of bringing your own duty free booze. There is a small shop with a limited amount of grocery items. Snacks (crisps etc), soft drinks and juice, and ice cream. Aparently they will also stock your mini bar if you request it, but we didn't try that.

Just a word of warning. We booked a package which we thought included transfers. As expected we were met at the airport and escorted to Pt Vona to catch the boat to the island (we had a late transfer, so couldn't go from Pt Denerau). As instructed, prior to departure we booked for the return transfer, and were ferried out to the boat. Much to our surprise we were asked for a ticket, which we didn't have, and then were charged F$88 each for the return transfer.

We still haven't worked out what we did wrong, or at what stage we should have received or purchased a return ticket. On rechecking our travel arrangements it appears we have only paid for the transfer TO the island, not for the return, which seems a little unusual.

We are still scratching our heads over this. Obviously something screwed up somewhere, as most of the returning passengers had a return voucher. Next time we will be asking a few more questions. Other than this we had a great stay on Treasure Island.
