Dress Code for Dinner - Mana Island & Sofitel Denarau?

Hi guys, just a quick one:

is there a dress code for dinner at either Mana Island or Sofitel Denarau?

I'm asking 'cause a few years ago, at Sugar Beach Resort in Mauritius, hubby had to go buy a pair of jeans as the dress code for dinner was long pants for men (he was refused entry because he did not have long pants on)! It was the first (and only) time we had this experience at an island resort, but thought I'd just check before we go anyway...

Thanks heaps! Only 5 more sleeps - can't wait to get out of miserably cold Sydney!

Fij is pretty casual. No singlet tops and short shorts . Smart causal is pretty much the norm in Fiji wherever you go . Some people by choice 'dress up' but heels and sand don't go together and they do look overdressed.

Dress is very casual at Mana. For the buffet most wear shorts and tee shirt whilst at the south beach restaurant you can wear the same or if you like wear long trousers and the ladies a dress. It is entirely up to you, there are no dress rules.;

Thanks all - we just returned from Mana and it is indeed very casual! We were in shorts and summer dresses and so were 95% of the guests. The resort has a very laid-back approach - no need for high heels! :-)

Hi Aussie Travel - Casual is very much IN for Mana Island !

Men - Shorts, t-shirts, Ladies - sundress, nice shorts, top - anything goes but not really appropriate to turn up in skimpy bikinis for dinner at the South Beach Restaurant - a very very little more 'formal' - although the staff would never comment/complain on guest's 'dress codes', it is important for guests/tourists to respect the Fijian Culture. During the day at the beach, swimming pools etc. okay for swimsuits, bikinis etc. At the other end of the scale - Yes of course - you can dress up with a dress and heels & enjoy the evening wherever on the Island.
