Hi Wyeekang,

There has only been drizzle now and there in the past few weeks in Melaka including A Famosa.

The usual affected area of monsoon season this time of the year is the east coast of Terengganu, Kelantan, Pahang and some part of Johor, including Muar.

Melaka is less susceptible to flood not only because of some mountains sheltering it from east coast monsoon but also better irrigation. Last year's flood in some residential area just outside the Melaka town was worst flood in decades due to unusual residue rain (non stop rain for 3 days) from a typhoon from Vietnam.

KL (except some highways due to poor irrigation) and Melaka is seldom flooded.

I will be driving up to Melaka from Singapore near the end of next week. Does anyone know if there is flooding on the North-South Highway? Or is there a website that gives flood advisories for Malaysia highways? I looked at the "PLUS" website and it only talked about construction, no mention of the heavy rains. Thanks!

Hi Yank,

There is no reported flood in north south highway. If it does, the authority would have done something to resolve it quickly as it is the major route for not only travellers but also food supplies and goods to different parts of Malaysia.

The flooding in Johor is due to poor irrigation in urban area. North south highway rarely see any flooding.
