hi,

i think cavelossim/mobor beach area would be good

for you,a nice quiet area but with plenty of shops

and restuarants around, and not to far/expensive in

a taxi if you want to explore north or south goa a

bit more,if you go do not do trips with the reps, far

to expensive,use a taxi or betty's,betty's have a

shack on the beach, also a restaurant, and they do tours, their website is on here somewhere.

i would definately go b and b,there are so many great places to eat all over goa, always cheaper and

generally much better than any hotel.if you do get

to go i should look at the holiday inn on mobor beach,we were there in march/april this year,a really

nice hotel.

hope that helps a bit.

have a great anniversary wherever you decide on going.

Candolim would be a good choice. Its not too quiet and its not lively. there are plenty of great restaurants and bars and the beaches are lovely too apart from the tanker thats stuck in the water - but dont worry about that you can see it from most beaches in Goa anyway. Candolim beach is quieter than the others but the hustle and bustle is there if you want it. It is your first time so I wouldnt go too secluded North Goa is ideal.

hope this helps.

I'd go with the Cavelossim option myself. Although Candolim's quieter than Calangute and Baga, it's still pretty built up. Cavelossim's still quite quiet, but there are restaurants and shops around. Majorda's nice as well, but there's not a huge amount in the village. It's not too far from Margao for shopping though.

Why not do North and South a week or two in both that may help you understand the great divide on the forum. Personally first time I'd go North there is more to do and its not so hotel orientated it is however far busier and more commercialised.

We have always stayed Candolim end of Calungute and would recommend that area, Bage and Calungute just get silly especially over Christmas. This year we are going for four weeks including Christmas - 2 weeks in Candolim and 2 weeks including Christmas in the South which is quieter - more like the Goa we fell in love with 12 years ago

cheers
