Fairhope with toddler?

Hi all - my husband and I would like to explore Fairhope, just wondering if the hotels and restaurants are kid-friendly? We will be travelling with an 18month old. Are there any activities for kids - parks, etc?

There are two great parks for small kids..one almost downtown..two blocks south of Fairhope Ave on Church Street. Another is very close on Fels St just west of Church St towards the Bay. Be sure to go to the park at the pier.. Go thru the gate alll the way to the end to feed the ducks and geese. You can drive in and do a circle..park close to the little bridge for the geese/ducks. There is a beach there too.

Take the toddler to the coffee shop Latteda at the corner of Section and de la Mare downtown and read a book in the back of the bookstore. Genes Beans is a half block down de la Mare for Ice cream.

I should think the Hampton downtown is kid friendly

Nearby is http://www.windmillmarket.org/about.html. with a couple of casual restaurants. In the corner is Sweet Olives which is our favorite. Our g'kids love the food P&Js , grilled cheese. We love the adult sandwiches. The market is at the corner of Equity ( north of Hampton Inn off Section) and Bancroft

We were just there two weeks ago!

Restaurants...new Italian place..Pinzones on Fairhope Ave between Section and Church getting good reviews. Breakfast across the road from Hampton.at Buck's Diner..also there what we call meat and two. .... Our fav is Market by the Bay up on 98..your classic fried shrimp or oysters..very casual... There is a seafood place on the pier.--oh you must take a walk on the pier!.. Upscale..Fairhope Inn, Wash House and Grand Hotel.. pizza=Papas Pizza downtown. Pub food across from Windmill market.

The Fairhope restaurant reviews above are quite accurate. Big Daddy's has a sandbox but out of town and hard to find..ask someone to give you directions. One of the few remaing waterfront (river) places.

I highly recommend Billiys Ugly Biscuits but no one goes out there..Billy might grace you (pun intended) with a hymn over the microphone...a true Alabama experiece. Panini Petes for lunch.. We love Sandras shrimp salad. There Ben's BBQ on Section north of town)

You should fit right in we have plenty of kids all over Fairhope. I think Felschurch is talking about Willy at the Biscuit King on County Road 24.

The coffee shop Latte Da is part of 45 yr old indie bookstore Page & Palette. A must visit is Fantasy Island Toys on Fairhope Ave as well as GiGi & Jay's (corner of Fairhope & Section Street).
