5 male UK Punjabis on holiday to Mumbai

Hi there,

We are 5 UK punjabis travelling to Mumbai and Goa in October and we are not sure what to expect. We have all been to India several times before, but never to Mumbai/Goa.

We will be looking to go to all of the good bars/clubs, but are not sure what type of music is popular. We like RnB Hip-Hop and Bhangra, but have heard that it is mainly House music played in the clubs? Is this true?

In addition, my friends are hoping to enjoy some female attention while they are in Mumbai and Goa but were not sure how British Indians would be received by the females in India?

Finally, we are looking to stay in the Sun and Sand hotel? Is this any good?

There was a similar post in these forums about a month ago, was it you guys or someone else?

British Indians or anyone else for that matter - how a woman perceives you depends on where you rate on the attractiveness index, and what the individual chemistry is!

And since that varies from person to person, how can anyone speak for the entire population of women in Mumbai? :)

Bombay is in general outgoing and more Westernised than other cities. That means girls will talk to you, but equally, they will tell you to go climb a tree if they're not interested.

There are lots of bars and restaurants - if you want a list, let me know. Several places play hip hop, bhangra, himesh and everything else in between.

Sun and Sand is in Juhu, which is a suburban area with restaurants and shopping and some discos. The hotel is sort of in between 3-star and 4-star. Try staying there, but eating out in many of Juhu's little restaurants. For discotheques, try 1) Enigma and 2) Vie Deck & Lounge in Juhu. Poison in Bandra will probably have your kind of music.
