Flying from Mumbai to Goa

I am due to be flying into Mumbai with Virgin arriving at 11:30am. Have been told to allow 3 hours to get to domestic terminal. What airline is more reliable out of Jet or Indian to get to Goa?

Jet is the #1 airline in India.

there are also other good airlines like Kingfisher, Go etc that fly into Goa and are cheaper than Jet.

I agree, Jet is the #1 airline. The domestic terminal is just 3 minutes walk from the International terminal, so put your bags on a baggage trolly and walk it. The 3 hours you mention is plenty of time to get through immigration and check in at the Domestic terminal.

Pune's got it wrong : it takes very much more than 3 minutes to walk from the international terminal to the national terminal. 3 hours is too long unless you plan to walk. At 11.30 am, give it at least an hour by taxi/coach, the traffic snarl can be a bit horrific at that time.

yeah, you definitely cannot walk it in 3 mins to the domestic terminal from the international terminal unless you happen to want to be arrested for trespassing in Mumbai's highly (you would wonder) secure airport.

what you can do to avoid the traffic snarls and jams and 1 hour transit time mrgnk detailed is to take the inter terminal free coach. this uses the airports tarmac to transport passengers between terminals.

To access this free coach service, once you collect your baggage at the international terminal and get past customs, ask any of the airport officials for help and they will direct you accordingly. if you dont spot any of them, do not exit the terminal, retain your boarding card and go to the jet airways counter (this is before the pre-paid taxi counter) and ask for help.

About getting from the International terminal 2A where the Virgin flight comes in to go to the domestic terminal for the flight to Goa is a bit longer than 3 minutes unless you are referring to the Jet Airways special check in counter at the International terminal for domestic flights where you can check in your luggage and then proceed by the inter terminal free coach to the domestic terminal in about 20 minutes. If you are taking any other airline to go to Goa then it will mean that you have to go there personally by the inter terminal free coach service provided bythe Airports Authority of India (AAI) and it will leave approximately every half hour from both the terminals. There will be two terminals at the Domestic airport 1A and 1B for domestic flights operated by Indian Airlines and Kingfisher from the first one and the rest are operated from the other terminal. So you will be dropped off outside whichever terminal you decide to take the airline from. The coach goes from inside the perimeter road of the airport so it does not face any traffic at any time except for the brief time it spends outside the gate of the domestic airport to drop you off at your terminal. I would keep a buffer of about 3 hours between the two flights so just check if any of the flights for Goa are leaving after your arrival time in Mumbai. Hope this helps and also clears all doubts now!!!

Cheers,

Aadil.
