easy tours of india

Beware of this company. They are much more expensive than you need to spend. We found the trip planning to be poor and had very bad customer service. We're sorry we signed up with them and would recommend you use another tour operator.

Or not use one at all. India is an easy country to get around in, and, thanks to years of British occupation, everyone speaks English (there are more English speakers in India than there are in all other countries combined) and most signs are in English also (not destinations on local buses, unfortunately). The train system is awesome.... it tries for the impossible and just about pulls it off (don't ask me how), even though you usually need to give yourself a bit of leeway for delays. The guide books are very helpful, and if you do want a guided tour at any place you arrive at, there are plenty of locals, with transport, who will jump at the chance for a very reasonable fee.... and if you choose carefully, some of these are very good indeed. Accommodation.... it's everywhere; I can't envisage a situation where you'd turn up in a town or city and not be able to find a room.

All you need is a return air ticket and a visa... and maybe a few advance train reservations on selected popular routes (available on www.irctc.co.in). Can a tour operator do this any better than you can?
