Count on LKR 18,000-20,000 for the return trip by car/van with driver.

Entrance fee is just under LKR 3,000 per person. Jeep safari for 6-8 persons costs approx. LKR 4,500.

Chandrika is approx. LKR 9,000 for a double room with dinner and breakfast.

Tip the driver LKR 500-600/day.

If the tracker at Yala is good I usually tip LKR 300.

For 2 double rooms for one night I would tip around LKR 500.

Hi there hoping you folks can help. We will also be staying at the Tangerine Beach Hotel in January and looking to do a similar trip to Yala Park. We are not sure what is the best way to go about this - we had planned to get a driver to take us to Chaaya Wild with a few stops on the way, stay there for 2 nights and arrange for a driver to take us on safari and then get a driver to take us back to Tangerine Beach at Kalutara, but this is looking to be quite expensive and perhaps not straight forward. Did you arrange your trip with a local tour agent, or did you do it independently? Was also wondering if you have to pay for drivers over night accommodation. Any advice or recommendations on on how best to arrange from you or Hans ( and your views on the Tangerine Beach hotel) would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

Drivers get free accommodation and food at most hotels and better guesthouses.

Tangerine Beach to Yala is approx. 200 km. If you take 2 separate drivers you will pay LKR 70-75/km. If you keep the same driver you will pay LKR 45-50/km, but will have to pay his daily minimum of 100-150 km.
