Is ticket-machupicchu.com legitimate?

Hi, Currently the official website for purchasing tickets http://www.machupicchu.gob.pe/ has suspended online purchasing due to high levels of fraud. As it is my preference to purchase tickets well in advance and not wait until my arrival in Cusco, I found http://www.ticket-machupicchu.com. Aside from taking advantage of the fact that the official site is not operating and charging more, is this site legitimate?

What are some other options to getting tickets ahead of time?

Thanks very much!

Yes- we just used the site in September for tickets. There is an $11 charge per ticket, but it is worthi it. Once you purchase your ticket you will get a confirmation in one-two days. You can then go on the Machu Picchu web site and see that you are "registered". Hope that helps

I used the official gov website to purchase my tickets and paid with my Visa with no problems at all. Just visited MP today and am already resting back at the hotel in AC.

The only website that offers good service is: cuscocity.com/store/…machu-picchu-tickets

My husband and I have used them couple years ago and recently in October 2012. They have a good service, sometimes a bit slow but overall just great.

To check for "scam websites" is very simple, check the domain registration. If is new you know it might be a "scam website" if older than 2 years, then they're good!

CuscoCity.com is about 8 years old.

Try this website: cuscocity.com/store/…

They charge an extra $8 for processing, but is 100% secure and backed up by PayPal.

PS It takes 24 hours to get your ticket reservation and then you can print online.

Do some search before making a commitment, domain age helps you determine if they have been in business for awhile or they are new. Like in this case this website is too new to trust them. Try this company:

http://cuscocity.com/store they have been providing Machu Picchu services since 2004!

I had a great experience (http://cuscocity.com) about a week ago!

I used ticket-machupicchu.com last October and had no problems with our tickets. It took a few days until they were ready to print but we got exactly what we paid for and had no problems during our trip!

There is no reason to use these websites any more now that the official website is again accepting credit card payments.
