Agua Calientes

We are about to make a reservation at Rupa Wasi Eco Lodge in Agua Calientes for 2 nights with the goal of visiting Machu Pichu and the Sacred Valley from there. Does it make any sense or is it too far from the other interesting sites in the Sacred Valley ?

Aguas Calientes makes sense only for visiting Machu Picchu.

It can be reached only by train which you have to reserve as soon as possible, preferably before making any hotel reservations.

For visiting all the other sites in the Sacred Valley, you'd have to stay in Pisac, Ollantaytambo, Urubamba or even Cusco, depending on how much time you have.

Thanks. How long do we need to visit Machu Pichu ? Is 4-5 hours enough or is it better to stay at least one night in Agua Calientes ?

We spent two days and I would recommend doing the same. MP is quite enormous with lots of very different things to see. The views change depending on time of day and weather conditions. Imo, the more time you have available, the better.

Good, thank you. We'll spend two days in Cuzco. Two days in MP. At the end of the second day in MP, we'll leave for another place in the Sacred Valley, visit the Sacred Valley one day then leave at the end of this day to go back to Cuzco as we will fly to Lima the morning after and spend the last two days in Lima. Does it sound a good plan ? Do you have any suggestions re: hotels in any of these places ?

What is generally recommended by the excellent local specialist Xochitl and now by ourselves who gladly followed his advice is to spend the first 2 days in the Sacred Valley (preferably Urubamba, about 1 hour drive from Cusco, hotel Kuychi Rumi www.urubamba.com highly recommended), the next 2 days (1 overnight) in Machu Picchu / Aguas Calientes and the remaining available time (1 or better 2 days) in Cusco (Casa Andina San Blas o.k., but there's lots of others to chose from).

The idea of going first to the SV is to get easier and better aclimatized to the high altitude.

Bayoute has recommended you very well.
