Recovery since cyclone Ivan

Hi all ye fellow travellers

we are considering a trip to Ile Sainte-Marie in mid December 2008. We know this is probably a bit close to the cyclone season so wondered what advice is out there? Also, any reports on the recovery of tourism facilities on Ile Sainte-Marie?

Thanks Hugo & Debbie

Hi There,

You should be fine in mid December as a cyclone concerns in case it happen in Saint Marie there aren't many advice one can give but find the stongest building in town and stay inside until it passes, however it will be very very hot at that time but you will be at the beach so that great, also be ready for an afternoon thunder storms it usualy very strong.

If you manage to reserve a Hotel in the Island that means they are ready for guests, the Malagasy are use to the cyclone and the usually get their act together very quickly. I am sure you will enjoy it.
