One night-- recommendations for camps and transport please

Hi all,

We are planning to do one night in Wadi Rum. We will be leaving Petra on Dec 20th for Wadi Rum, and heading to Aqaba to fly out to Cairo the next day.

My questions are:

1. Is there a camp anyone recommends? If so, how does one go about arranging it. Does anyone offer a camel tour?

2. What is the most convenient and reliable way to get from Petra -> Wadi Rum -> Aqaba? Approximate costs?

Thanks

Everybody in Wadi Rum offers camel tours, from half an hour to a week.

Check out www.jordanjubilee.com for the Wadi Rum pages for information in general and for recommendations on tours, camps and guides.

Hi,, the jordanjubliee site is worth looking at,, it is an Aladin's Cave.

To enjoy and live Wadi Rum..... just make sure you get a Bedouin camp within the protected area,, and not one of the "hello campers" camp sites outside the protected area..

ciao

We are planning on staying overnight at one of the camp sites in late December. Is it too cold to stay in a tent or are there other accommodations?

Please advise. Thank you.

The only accommodation in Wadi Rum is in various forms of camps.

Of course, we do not at the moment know the temperature in December, any more than you know it at your own home town. Generally speaking, the guides offer plenty of blankets and usually have a fire in the tent (a large tent!) so it's not too cold to sleep. You should have a good sweater, and perhaps a jacket as well, for the evening.
