Safety of Wadi Rum Parking Area

We are traveling to Petra from Aqaba in a rented car. Plan to stop at Wadi Rum and take a 4 hour tour. How safe will our luggage be in the trunk of the rented car? Are there lockers or luggage storage area in the Wadi Rum visitor center?

There is absolutely no problem about safety whatsoever here! You are not in the heart of the souk in Cairo! It is right out in the desert, in plain sight of everybody, including the police who are permanently on duty at the Visitors' Centre!

You will find that there is no real problem of theft in Jordan.

Hi,

Do not leave your car at the visitors centre, you can drive it to the outskirt of Rum village. There is a rest house, and a Tourist Police Hut in that car park.

It is safe,,, visitors leave their cars overnight there. I have done it more than once,,,,,, no worries.

ciao
