Have there been any more improvements to the highway?

Has there been any more upgrades to the highway between HCMC and Vung Tau?

I was there last January and there was a new section, but it was still slow and took a while to get on the highway.

They are partly using the new hwy and its 2hours based on traffic flow. Some times a little longer so nothing has changed yet.

Best to allow a little longer than two hours if you can - we went into Saigon last week and were held up in traffic for more than half an hour (turned out to be an inexperienced traffic cop at a major intersection and of course no-one wanted to queue so they didn't, which just made it worse!). Total trip time door to door was well over two and a half hours, whereas it's usually been spot on 2 hrs 15 mins (including comfort stop) since most of the new highway and the Saigon River tunnel opened for use not long ago. But TV news tonight said Greenlines intend to resume ferry services "in August", so that'll save another half an hour or so if/when it happens - or even more if the Greenlines Director is to be believed: he said "1 hour 10 minutes journey time, or upto 1 hour 30 mins in bad weather".

Yes it has always been 2.15-2.30 for me also with a sensible driver. Probably the best time would be between 12pm to 3pm when they all go for their afternoon nap.
