Nightlife in Vung Tau?

What's the nightlife like in Vung Tau? Are there any places that play club music at night with a dance floor?

How about cheap shopping during the day? Sunglasses, board shorts, etc.

Please let me know, thanks!

I've been workin in Vung Tau for over a year. It's not a bad place, the air is nice and it's not crowded. Nightlife? Er, it's not a party mecca, but if you have people to go out and enjoy the night with, it's not so bad. You can check out some of the clubs, but a word of warning, they all close pretty early by foreign* standards. 1am and everyone's on their way home. Most girlie bars are open till around 5 in the morning, though. There are some nice places with good music, just ignore the sexpats. Hehe. Once a month, there's a free buffet at Caesar's Palace Club (casino) and you might be able to score a $30 voucher. Locals aren't allowed to gamble, so it's not crowded. And who knows, you might win the Lucky Draw.

Haven't tried spending Christmas here, they say it's pretty quiet....

Hi, Could you please let me know how and where to take the hydrofoil to Vung Tau. How much is the cost of a ferry ticket and must we book ticket in advance? I will be arriving from S'pore to Ho Chi Ming with 3 friends on 15 January, 2010 and would like to visit Vung Tau and stay for a nite on Saturday.

Are you able to recommend cheap and good hotel for a night? Read a review on Maccas Place at 31 Lac Long Quan but couldn't find hotel in search.

Thanks, Nancy

Thanks for info on ferry to Vung Tau from HCM. Couldn't locate hotel you mentioned. Any way to find out Tel Nbr of Maccas Place (B&B) at 31 Lac Long Quan? (Rate is around $17). I would like to try this budget place as recommended by a traveller in the forum.

as you've probably guessed... a lot of the guesthouses/hotels in VT don't have websites. i don't know where to get the number of Maccas Place. not familiar with it as there are a lot of hotels here. if i have time i'll swing by the place and get the number before the 15th but i'm not sure if i can do that in time.

Noted with thanks. If you have time and managed to find Maccas Place, could you kindly do reservation for 2 rooms for Sat night. As this is not the appropriate forum topic, could you email me at nanctan@yahoo.com

Your help appreciated.
