Haiphong

I have been reading about Vietnam for a long time now on Tripdvisor and 1 Place that is not mention much or not at all is Haiphong.

Is this Place that Bad that no one goes there ?. I understand that Haiphong is a working Port , but surely there must be something good to see there. ??.

Cheers Rusty.

There is really nothing much there. There are some sites that people often visit is Du Hang pagoda, Sat market.

Very popular for thousands of Vietnamese workers is Do Son Beach - which there is a Do Son Casino with a lot of hotels. The water is red like at river since it's close to the rivermouth. Every year the beach starts to be crowded from 30 April since this is the public holiday in Vietnam.

There's a big and beautiful Catholic Cathedral that was worth a look inside, but other than that there really wasn't all that much to see there. It's just a big, busy town.

It's a good jumping off place for Cat Ba island too, but these days most people prefer to do their Halong Bay tours on junks out of Halong City rather than Cat Ba.

Haiphong is a s...hole. Don't go there. We are now in Haiphong accidently and there's Nothing to do. People don't speak English neither.

I repeat: don't go to Haiphong!

Johnbrinkie, thank you for that great and valuable information. Sometimes it´s better not to speak English and for some guys it´s better to stay at home.

Enjoy your stay.

Hai Phong is not really worth to visit. The beach is not clean. Seafood are expensive :( but the Buffalo festival is interesting :D

Hi JOLeicester, Hai Phong is not a popular destination for foreign tourists and only a few foreign companies invest in. So it's easy to understand why local people can't speak English. Some of them can speak English well but not all of them :D
