Haadson Resort???

Has anyone stayed here recently. Looking for somewhere with a nice beach, cheap restaurants and sap/massages. Will be our last 2 days in Thailand.

There is a Haadson Resort in Khao Lak, which is in Phang Nga Province. Located on Bang Sak Promenade just across an access road from the lovely beach. Several good, cheap local restaurants in easy walking distance either way with dining overllooking the ocean. See http://www.haadsonresort.com/ in case it is this one rather than the Haad Son Resort at Haad Yao on Khao Phangan which is in Surat Thani Province. See haadsonresort.resort.phanganbungalows.com/

It might be me that was wrong. We'll have to wait and see what OP says. :-)

Sorry for confusing people. I meant the resort at Khao Lak. It sounds good. Are there any others that might be worth looking at? I was really trying to get away from Phuket to somewhere a little less crowded and comercialised.

Thanks Leigh

Hi Leihj,

Khao Lak has a range of accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets. It would to advise you more if you could indicate what your daily budget is and when you are planning to be in Khao Lak.

There is loads of information in the Top Question FAQs at top right on the Khao Lak Forum at tripadvisor.co.uk/ShowForum-g297914-i10908-K…

The Haadson is an excellent resort but is quite isolated being some distance by taxi from the two main townships of Bang Niang (20 minutes) and Bang La On (25 minutes).

Have a look at this link for a list of all accommodation in Khao Lak www.seadragondivecenter.com/accommodation.htm

here for more information on accommodation and links to maps http://www.khaolaklovers.com/

and here (a German site but booking procedures in English) http://khaolak.de/khaolakbeach/home.htm

and post back for information on anything that appeals to you.

Thanks for the info on how far out of town the resort is. I was hoping to get somewhere in town or closer. I have a budget of up to $150 per night. Any ideas???

Hi Leigh,

You don't say when you are travelling as that will make a difference to the rates. However, $150, presumably Aussie $, is about 4300 baht a night which shouldget you pretty decent accommodation anywhere in Khao Lak.

If you look here http://www.sawadee.com/hotels/phangnga.html you will see a list of most of the resorts/hotels. Make sure the rate is set to Australian $s. The rates showing in the list athe moment are Low Season rates lastinting until the end of October but as a rough guide if you are ghoing in Dry Season, November to April, as a rough guide double them and add 17% for tax/service charge to see how they fit to your budget. To get a more accurate quote you have to go to the individual resort.

For instance the Furama Khao Lak Resort is showing the same rate as the Haadson so seems to be in your price range. This is a very nice 3* resort just one road back from Bang Niang Beach with lots of restaurants, bars and shops within walking distance. there are two parts to it, one with 3 storey hotel type accommodation overlooking a pool, the other semi-bungalows, again with their own pool.

However, there are others equally nice and well located that are cheaper. The Cousin Resort which is just down the road from the Furamar is not listed but is only $59AUS a night and has its own pool and restaurant. If you want more information, please ask away.

I stayed there for three nights late last year. It's very quiet and the beach is over the road. It's very quiet with a very natural feel there's no other resorts close by local food available close by.
