Meridien Khao Lak

I read a review for this renewed hotel but it said the water on the beach was not as nice as it is in Phuket. Is it temporary? I am coming at the end of January so please let me know if the Meridien Khao Lak is a good option instead of Le Meridien Phuket.

The LeMeridien sits on PakWeeb Beach and faces the side of a large bay - with fairly protected waters.

I've stayed a few hundred yards down the beach at the Similana in rainy season (Aug) and the water does get stirred up a bit - and kind of a sandy color when the weather is rainy and windy. I don't think that condition exists when the weather is settled as it will be in late January. BUT< that is just my opinion. In Jan/Feb I usually stay around the corner from the peninsula on Bang Niang or Nong Thong beach - and they are always very nice - so I am guessing Pakweeb will be nice too.
