Hotels with family rooms A/C for 2 + 2

We are family of 4 (kids aged 10 & 6). We would like to visit Koh Tao for 6-8 nights next August. We have tried to budget for £50 a night but will allow a bit more if needed on an island.

We'd like either a rental with 2 bedrooms or a hotel with a decent sized family rooms. All suggestions welcome.

Thanks

There are many options for family accommodation on Koh Tao. It really all depends on what area of the island you'd like to stay.

Sairee is the most popular village on the island, with the longest beach. Its also got the most to do in terms of activities for you and your children. There are several hotels catering to families, although you are probably better off booking something in north Sairee that is close walking distance, but far enough away from beach bars later in the evening. So you could try resorts such as Sairee Hut, Palm Leaf Resort and Bow Thong resort. For more budget options there are also a few resorts in the main Sairee area with family rooms eg Prik Thai and SB Cabana. We've had customers stay in the family rooms there before, and been very pleased with value. And they too, are far enough from the bar areas that noise in the evenings shouldn't be a problem. The issue with those resorts is that they do not take online bookings. However whatever company you make activity/dive/trip bookings with should be able to do this for you. For example we use Prik Thai resort for our customers on a frequent basis and are always happy to help arrange accommodation in advance.

If you want to be away from the Sairee area, you could try a resort in Mae Haad - still only a 15-20 minute walk to Sairee but much quieter in the evenings. Examples include Montra Resort and Sensi Paradise. Charm Churee resort is also very nice, but a little more out of the way - although it does have its own private beach.

There are also several options at quieter locations of the east coast such as Tanote Bay, Aow Leuk and Sai Daeng, but access and transport can be more complicated if you are planning on exploring the island and getting out and about through the day times - you'l find taxi fares will add up quickly!

Hope this helps - happy holiday planning :)

Hi Lockster, welcome to the Koh Tao forum!

There are most resort with family rooms or boungalows, the choice only depends on your preferences.

In my opinion for a family like your Chalok Baan Kao area could be a good option.

Thanks for the replies - seems many of these are beyond our price range or have no availability. Some don't appear to allow more than 3 in a room either.

Royal Koh Tao have responded but I have read mixed reviews, any thoughts? Looks like accommodation is filling fast, so we either find somewhere soon or change our plans and visit Phangan instead.

If anyone has contacts or links to non internet booking places we'd appreciate it. To be clear we would prefer a 2 bedroom place (connected rooms ok) or a large room with 4 beds, or a bungalow/villa.

Have a look at New Heaven Resort, I stayed once there and they have bungalows with 2 bedroom. I think right on your budget too.
