Snorkelling and accomodation..

Hi all,

Never been to Thailand before and looking at staying at Koh Tao for a few nights on the way to Koh Samui. Would love some suggestions on accommodation on the beach - we would love to be able to wander out the front door (give or take 100 mteres or so) for a swim and snorkel. The only must haves are air con, cleanliness and breakfast. Anything up to aprox $100 (of course would prefer cheaper if possible - best value for $$)

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and advice.

Hi

When are you going? Time of year will effect the prices of accomodation. Plus where on Koh Tao are you wanting to stay?

Here's a some I can suggest in Sairee to get you started, but again you may not want to stay there.

Prik Thai is a budget beach hut resort, but have what you are looking for.

Bow Thong Resort is a more luxury resort but again offers everything you're asking for. http://www.bowthongresort.com/index.php

Sairee Cottage this is pretty much right in the thick of it in Sairee

May is a lovely time to visit as it's fairly quiet but not dead and because of that means you get low season prices for accommodation. Plus the weather is normally great too.

Have a read through this and it'll give you a rough idea of what's available in regards to area/resort

Hi

We like Bow Thong too. Yes, Sairee has a bit of coral about 100 m out. Whilst it's not the best on the island there's still things to see.

The best snorkeling would be around the other side of the island on the east coast. A big boat trip around the island is a really good day out. We paid 650 baht each for the day which included the fees for Koh Nang Yuan, water, fruit, lunch, pick up and drop off and snorkel gear.
