Nothing you can do about it now except relax. The weather is not always predictable. Just show up and enjoy it no matter what. Most likely there will be sunlight during every day. If you are lucky there will be a 24 hour break between rains when you can do your ocean dives. A lot of these places train you in a swimming pool initially so rain won't be a big deal for that.

Scuba diving is a wet activity so it doesn't matter if it is raining. The weather has been a bit hit and miss lately but it has been sunny and mostly dry the past few days and the forecast is promising for the week!

The point of Open Water Diver Training is to prepare you to be a confident, independent diver. Training Standards state that you are trained for conditions better than or equal to those that you did your training in.

Consequently, if the conditions are a bit windy and wavy with some current, you will be better prepared when you go diving in places like Indonesia or the Caribbean where currents and waves are very common.

There are plenty of schools to choose from in Sairee - don't ignore the SSI ones! The SSI teaching style is more flexible for both student and instructor with digital training materials so often provides a more student friendly experience.

Have a look at the top 15-20 on trip advisor (narrow it down to Sairee Beach schools) and read the reviews. You should consider group sizes, school philosophy, quality of facilities and equipment before you consider price. Big Schools offer a great social scene, whilst small schools offer a very personal touch.

You should also check what sort of insurance the school offers, the nature of their dive boat and dive site selection and what time they depart for morning dives - I used to work at a dive school that had 5.45am meeting time which is brutal compared to some schools meeting at 7am or even 8am!

Enjoy your trip to koh tao :-)
