Accomodation question - sorry!

Hello

I have been browsing the accomodation options for Koh Phangan for a few days now and don't seem to be any closer to deciding on what is best.

We are 2 couples who are going for the full moon party but are not the biggest partiers i.e. want to be able to go to sleep at say 3am without hearing too much noise.

We're also not sure we want to be tied to 5 nights on Koh Phangan when we are only in Thailand for 2 weeks.

Is it best to be close to the action and book somewhere like Leela Beach bungalows and slum it for 3 nights, or would you recommend getting a nicer hotel up by Thong Nai Pan and then getting a cab to the full moon.

On the other nights are there enough bars and restaurants up there to keep us occupied in Thong Nai Pan? And is it easy to get a taxi back after the party?

Budget wise, we're happy to spend up to say £60 a night but don't want to spend that on something overpriced and grotty.

Would like air conditioning and a nice room, with a pool if possible.

Thanks for any advice

Sarah

Most places close to the FMP require a 5 night minimum stay, but further away from the party beach of Haad Rin you can find places where the minimum drops down to say 3 nights.

Whilst I would normally recommend Thong Nai Pan, it isn't the easiest place to get to the FMP from, but it is still possible, but yes there are bars and restaurants to keep you going, otherwise consider somewhere like Haad Salad which is on the west coast, far enough from Haad Rin to escape the noise, but an easy cab ride to get to the FMP.

Is there a town/village at Haad Salad which we can use for the other nights we are there? Looking for a choice of restaurants and beach bars.

There are regular taxis, speed boats and longtails from Thong Nai Pan to the FMP so you won;t have any problem getting to/from.

I believe that Thong Nai Pan has more to offer in terms of beach bars and restaurants than Haad Salad does, although Haad Salad is a beautiful beach.

Your budget is fine for what you are looking for. Try Candlehut, Starlight or Dreamland all in Thong Nai Pan Yai.
