Dholavira day trip

I am coming to Bhuj with my elderly mother. We have just 3 days, but I wanted to spend one day going to Dholavira. Is it possible to do this in a day, and what approximately does it cost? We would like to take a taxi for 2 people.

Also, for villages specialising in embroidery, which ones would you recommend?

Thanks!

Dholavira is about 4 hours drive from Bhuj. With your elderly mother be sure that you can do about 8-9 hrs on the road in a day. Take a large vehicle for comfort. About 3000 - 3500.

For embroidery do visit the outlets of kala-raksha qasab and shrujan.

Thanks for your replies. I think I'll skip Dholavira this time. The outlets of Shrujan, Kala Raksha are of course very good, but I also wanted to visit the villages, where the women do the embroidery. Dhordo, if I remember right used to be one such place. I want to meet and talk to the women.

With the Rann Utsav from tomorrow you could practically walk into houses and they will be willing to chat with you. Also visit Khavda, Hodka, Bhirandiyari villages.

Krutarthsinhji, thanks so much! The generosity with which you share information is much appreciated!

I will certainly visit Dhordo Tent village. I read on the website that there are 2/3 day packages. I assume we can hire a car from Bhuj and just visit the place for a few hours?

Thanks,

Swati
