Rann of Kutch Visit Dec 2012

Hi,

We are a group of 15 people from Bangalore visiting in Dec '12.

Questions I need answered -

I learnt that everyone needs permits to enter the Rann. What is the procedure? Is it time consuming once we arrive in Bhuj?

Do NRIs need any special permits to enter the Rann?

There are children aged around 5 in the group. What precautions do we need for road travel from Bhuj to Dholavira?

Has anyone experienced Akshar Travels' tour? What is your feedback?

Thanks,

JK

I assume that you are talking about the White (Great) Rann.

As mentioned in this thread, a permit is needed (carry a government issued photo ID with an address) for visiting the White Rann, Dhordo, Khavda, Kalo Dungar and India Bridge. It can be obtained en route at the Police Outpost at Bhirandiyara (click on map link below for location of the outpost) and they start issuing permits for the day starting 10 AM. Depending on the number of tourists, it could take time.

I am not aware of any special permits needed for NRIs.

Are you going to stay overnight in Dholavira or return back on the same day?
