Wow..don't like the sound of some of the recent posts on Honduras. Sounds like it may not be as safe as we were thinking. Also pulled up the Canadian Government advisory..http://www.voyage.gc.ca/countries_pays/report_rapport-eng.asp?id=121000#.ToQCLf7rUlY.email
We had planned on travelling here for three weeks in Dec/Jan. We usually travel throughout an area staying 3 days at a spot and moving on..we have been doing that for a few years now. Nothing booked ahead, just by the seat of our pants, staying longer in areas where we like the beaches, snorkelling and the people..Many times we stay at remote places, out of the way hotels and B&B's and also travel with the locals..ie. buses and ferry boats etc.. I realize crime is everywhere, but why take a chance on visiting an area that seems to be getting worse and nothing is being done about it. Our style of travel even makes us more vulnerable. We've done this style of travel in Bahamas, Fiji and last year the Virgin Islands. Everything went well at these locations. So right now ...we're thinking???
