finding accomodation in Ohrid

Do you think I can go to Ohrid, at the end of July, without booking?

Will I easily find an accomodation?

The same I would do for Bitola.

I would prefer to go without booking because I am not sure of the dates and would love to be flexible.

I travel alone and would like to have a room with private bothroom and breakfast.

Thank you for a suggestion

Hi,

For Ohrid I'm pretty sure that you'll find a room, people who have rooms to rent will wait at the bus station (and along Boulevard Turistica, the main road through Ohrid) to offer their rooms. Also see my tips here: members.virtualtourist.com/m/6117e/6e6c1/3/

I don't know the situation in Bitola.

You can find my other information about Macedonia here: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/6117e/

Cheers,

Dennis

Both cities will be fully booked, or what ever is there it will be expencive..

Good news is that due to the economic downfal prices will not be much up.

For Bitola hotels and all info on Bitola look on my page of Bitola here:

if you decide to get room on arrival,as Dennis mentioned, first look at the room before you agreeon the price... It expected in home stay to pay between 7-10euro a night,

Cheap and good acomodation at Antonio Guest house in the old part of town.. Nothing fancy more cross of backpaker place and homestay, but clean and very friendly. Antonio is on TA as well chek it out,,,

Antonio is wealth of info and he is very accomodating. Top marks!

I will echo Pijlmans: In Ohrid, you will find people at the side of the road on Bulevar Turistichka (first bus stop), and at the bus station, offering rooms. Never done this myself, but I wouldn't hesitate. You may not get a private bath.

Try Vila Flora, out on Goce Delcev, opposite the 3rd (and last) mosque on the way out of town toward Struga. See my little article "Ohrid, a Poetic Introduction" here on TripAdvisor.

In Bitola, if nothing else is available (which I doubt), try Hotel Bitola, on the west edge of town. Cheap. No insects in the beds, the running water works. 15 minute walk to the center of town. (Walk along the River Dragor, and notice the monument to the Bulgarian prison. Get someone to translate for you. Not on the usual tourist list!) Hotel Bitola has the advantage that in the summer, every night, there are enormous weddings in the hotel restaurant. Roma, Turkish, Egiptani .. not usually Christian. Great music. Sit in the lobby and listen. Be prepared to pay cash when you check out; they may not have forms for the credit cards, etc.

Boston, Hotel Bitola is close since August last year (2011)

That is the most rundown, dilapidated place in BT and needs work on it!

Restaurant still works but rooms part is closed off.

Best is for the OP to sort out his booking now

than to arrive in any of these cities and be

disappointed.

In Ohrid, if you like nice & quiet place and u do not care is not in the old city, try the old Turkish

quoter " Daljan" is about 5 min walk from the

Market on the old road Ohrid-Struga. There is

short windin road which can take you streat up

at the fortresses main Gate " Gorna Porta"

there is Mother of God -Perivlepta church and

the Museum of Icones. Than you just need to

keep downwards towards the Roman

Amphiteater, you are already within in the old

city...

But please, please make sure you see the

room before you agreent on the price.
