Trogir or Split?

Hello, my son and his girlfriend (both mid-twenties) need accommodation for 2 nights after we disembark at Split from a sailing holiday mid July. He and I have been looking online for days and everything in Split seems to be fully booked! Looking at the map Trogir seems to be the next town up the coast, is this a nice place to stay with enough to do and will there be bars/restaurants, and a beach? There seems to be more availability there. If anyone has any suggestions for good basic/budget B & Bs/guesthouses/rooms/small hotels (max £100 per room per night) in Split, Trogir or anywhere near I would be very grateful. They will be flying out of Split.

Thank you.

Trogir is great and by local bus 60 min from Split, fast bus is 30 min. beaches are not straight in Trogir, best is to use Bus to Seget Donji or Seget Vranjica. Or walk over to Ciovo. They will enjoy Trogir cause it's a cosy small town, dalmatian living at its best. Easily day trip to Split possible. I use Hotel Bellevue in Trogir mainland, but don't know if they have rooms and how the prices are in peak season. Give it a try otherwise use google map or Trogir tourist information, http://tztrogir.hr/#52496

I think staying in Trogir would be a good thing and has what you are looking for.

look at booking.com for some great choices or trogironline You can get a little taxi boat to the beaches on Ciovo at Okrug Gornji to chill out or just hang out on the riva. Trogir is of course much closer to the airport too. Get the main buses there from opposite the port - NOT the local bus.

We spent a few nights in Trogir at Tragos Lemon Tree. Our family much preferred Trogir to Split and Nina, the owner of Tragos Lemon Tree, was great. Do try to avoid the local bus (bus #37) from Split to Trogir as it's a long, slow ride. The direct buses are much better (and more convenient; you can catch one from the bus station by the Split port and Riva) or the taxi boat would be a very fun option (they weren't running yet when we were there). Enjoy!
