1st time in Rovinj

Hi,

4 of us are going to spend 3 days in Rovinj this month and had a couple of questions. Would be greatful for any help! :)

We are staying in Rovinj, a bit outside of the centre. Which are the best beaches to visit in the area? We will have a car but don't want to go too far (within 30 mins).

Any must see places in Rovinj which we might miss?

Any local food/drink we should try?

How much is a pint of beer these days?

Thanks in advance!

Hello!

Try beaches around Punta Corrente - Skaraba - Cuvi - these are natural beaches surrounded by forrest. Regarding food and drinks - try local wine, maybe you will like it, then medica - schnaps with honey, Fuzi, njoki, pljukanci (pasta) with truffels or bacon...

agree with II28.

you don't want to miss the St. Euphemia church overlooking Rovinj, St. Catherine's island, Aquarium (although having been there in a while so don't know what is on), Lim fjord nearby.

great official Istrian web pages on gastronomy are at http://www.istria-gourmet.com/en/gastro_guide

also check http://www.tzgrovinj.hr/

when in Rovinj, make sure you don't miss Pula (25km to the South), the centre of Istrian region, once an ancient Roman city with a still standing amphitheatre, forum, archaeological museum...

Dia-baz, the best website for Rovinj is my YouTube channel. ;) Take a look at my MTB Street view movie and you'll see most of the best places. Including the parks, the beaches, entire coastline, most of the Old town, the St. Euphemia church, etc.

For beaches, I would recommend going south till you reach the place you like the most. For food, probably in the centre and Old town. You will not need a car for Rovinj. Still, you should also visit some hilltop towns like Motovun - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=od8WboFtnWU and my personal favourite Grožnjan - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obZhjAH3Nh8. Well worth the visit, close enough and easily accessible by car.

For me the best guide on Rovinj beaches you can find at http://www.rovinj.co/en/meet-rovinj/beaches/. As for the food, seafood is a must, but not just anywhere. For quality/ price try Tavern Kantinon http://bit.ly/tavernkantinonrovinj. You can read about Istrian specialties at http://bit.ly/genuineistriandishes.

How much should we expect to spend to rent bikes for a half day in Rovinj in early October?
