is cavtat too close to the airport?

Thinking of staying in Cavtat this summer, it seems to be close to the airport. Is it noisy because of this?

No. Cavtat is quiet and relaxing. We were here in September for four nights. The location of the airport simply makes it convenient.

Cavtat is indeed right near the airport but my guess is that you would be so entranced with the beauty of Croatia that you wouldn't even notice there were airplanes flying overhead. I don't think I have ever read on here anything negative on Cavtat and noise problems.

It depends on what you are used to. If you are used to aircraft overhead you will not be bothered by them, but if you look up everytime you hear a noise in the sky you might be bothered. The touch down point for the runway is less than 4km from the middle of the village. If you are worried about the noise go to one of the villages such as Mlini a little bit along the coast and more away from the flight path. Estimated passenger volume for 2007 is 1.2 million peaking in the summer months.

Hi WimpD

Cavtat is close to the airport - very convenient as its literally about 10mins by car. To put it into perspective , we too were worried about aircraft noise as as we on;y have the occasional miitary aircraft over us , otherwise everything else is so high no noise.

We were certainly aware of aircratft but considering the proximity not bothered. One of the reasons is because of the geography of the land. This part of Croatia rises very steeply from the sea , consequently the airport is high above the town which means that the aircraft come in relatively high over the town. We stayed right down in the town next to the sea so this again probably lessened any impact. Maybe others who stayed higher up the slopes as it were could tell you more.

If you click on More about Buzze and go to my photos you will see one of the airport runway taken from the top of the mountain and behind it you can see the steep drop off to the sea. There are other photos of Cavtat too.

the planes are not intrusive at all - in fact its lovely to sit out with a beer in the evening time and watch the lights of the planes overhead - it is fab and I really cannot remember any plane noises - the place is just too stunning to even be bothered about plane noises.
