We are planning to stay in Shu He in late May. How easy is it to find cabs in Shu He to go and come back at night from Lijiang?
Not sure how easy it is to find taxis in ShuHe but it is very close to Lijiang. Going from Lijiang to ShuHe by taxi wont be a problem ( about RMB 15), or you can get the bus.
Thanks annieandhamish for the info. Still a bit uncertain about whether we should stay in Shu He or Lijiang itself basically because we'd like to be able to head out to the town at night but not be part of it all day. If we don't get easy cab access especially at night, it could be a spoiler.. If anyone has any information on cabs in Shu He - especially at night, it would be very helpful..
I've been to ShuHe and Lijiang. We visited Shuhe but in our opinion it doesn't hold a candle to Lijiang. I would really recommend that you stay in Lijiang, we stayed in three different traditional inns during our visit in November 2011 because we visited Dali and Shangril from Lijiang. They were all away from the busy noisy streets of Lijiang but accessible to the vibrant nightlife.
Our favourite was Blossom Hill Inn - Joyland. It's in a quite area but close to everything. I think it would be annoying to have to get a taxi every night when you can just walk back to your hotel.
Our other hotels were the Tea Boutique and Zen Garden Lion Hill. All beautiful and in quiet parts of town.
Just a short raxi ride away at 14RMB. Quieter, nicer shops and better restaurants in Shuhe.
