Yes, that location should work well for you. Another option, if you're interested in walkability, would be the Aloft Hotel in downtown Homewood. It's a charming little area with great shopping and dining a short walk away.

thanks for your response. i can get the least expensive rate at embassy suites. The Hoover embassy suites seems newer with better reviews than Woodcrest place, birmingham embassy suites-thoughts regarding location and accessby car to tourist sites?

The Embassy Suites in Homewood is closer to the sights you will see, but I recently stayed in the Hoover Embassy Suites and it was brand new and beautiful. Both have a large free breakfast and nightly 2-hour happy hour/snack buffet....we really enjoyed it. If the fact they have an indoor pool/hot tub is important to you, call the hotel directly. Last month the Homewood ES had their pool under renovation and the hot tub at the Hoover ES was broken.

Hoover's a reasonable drive from downtown and all the sights (20 to 25 minutes), so if you choose the Hoover ES you should be just fine. It's a very nice hotel in a good area and has easy highway access to the sites you want to visit.

Agree - the one is Hoover is newer and there is much more around it as far as shopping and restaurants. It would add about 30 minutes to your drive to the places you mentioned visiting.

The Hoover area is generic suburb location. You won't think it different than any American suburb where you must have your car to do anything and all of the resturants are known chains.

The Homewood location is more convenient to the attractions you mentioned, with many more local dining options.

The aloft hotel recommendation is great if you want to be able to walk to some resturants and shops and is a safe location.
