Local guide Judy (Xu Feng Ping) -highly reccomend.

On our recent trip to China we had Judy as our guide accompanying us during four days that we spent in Yangshou and Lonji areas. She is a very pleasant local woman with excellent clear English, hard working, knowledgeable and caring. She is an outstanding guide which I highly recommend to everybody. She was very punctual, attentive to our needs and interests. She knows a lot about local life, customs, plants, foods, fauna... Whatever she didn't know when asked - she knew the answer for us the next morning... We love off bitten track trips, so she took us to the places where no foreign visitors would usually go - local markets, back roads etc... She spent a night with us in Tianou Yao village which was a great experience.

I cannot recommend her highly enough and will definitely use her again in our future travels to the area to see more local minority villages.

Hi Piramidon,

We are contemplating a 4-days trip to Yangshuo. Do you mind to let us know the cost of your guide and her contact information? Do guides expect tips, and if so, how much?

Thank you in advance.

She charged us 150RMB/day (~CAD$ 25) for her services which is a pretty much standard price in Yangshuo. Driver and activities are charged separately and prices vary. Depends what you want to do. She helped us with itinerary and booked everything.

Her e-mail is: fengping99@yahoo.com

No, she did not expect any tips at all. It is not customary in China. No one of private guides or drivers we hired in China expected tips at all. As it was mentioned many times here on TA by China experts/expats - it's not in their culture and some may even find this practice demeaning.

We did however reward the best one as we felt service was outstanding. It' entirely up to you but by no means expected...

Envy you already - it's a beautiful place...

Hope this helps.
