Avenida Paulista in early evening

I am staying at the Intercontinental and was wondering how safe it is to walk in this area at night. I was thinking about dining at Restaurante Spot and noticed it is only a 15 minute walk from the hotel. I realize bad things can happen anywhere at anytime but was wondering generally how safe the neighborhood is after dark but before 11 pm.

The region around Av. Paulista is usually busy with many people walking around. I would go through Av. Paulista, which is better illuminated (and with more pedestrians) than through the streets parallel to it.

I'd go to the restaurant on foot and see how I feel.

If you don't feel safe to return on foot, take a taxi (won't be much more than US$ 5-7).

absolutely no problem, just don't show off valuables (e.g. take a photo and put your camera back in a bag/backpack - don't walk around with it hanging on your neck), beware of pickpockets and you'll be fine.

Av. Paulista has many theather, cinemas and faculties meaning it's busy until late hours, pretty safe...

EnjoySP!

It was raining quite a bit, so we opted for a taxi. It probably would have been okay to make the walk. I generally felt pretty safe around Avenida Paulista.
