Atmosphere during "rock in Rio", for those who dont attend.

Traveling to Rio exactly on Rock in Rio dates, oblivious to that fact. Except for paying semi-carnival hotel rates, I wanted to know how would this affect the city in general, aka will normal clubs and nightlife function as usual, will people other than concert attendees be around. Of course, i realize that its only a small part of Rio experience, however it seems to be so heavily advertized that I feel like I won't be in the "in-crowd" since i suspect my hostel will be filled with concert people.

This won't affect most of the city, as the festival takes place in a suburb of Rio, called Barra da TIjuca. So if you're not staying there, I don't see major changes in the rest of Rio.

what may happen is some clubs doing special nights dedicated to the bands playing at the festival, but no major changes around the city.

Usually Casa da Matriz, Bukovski, Calabouço and Heavy Duty do things like that.

Vicky, if it is close to Copacabana Palace, this stage is an film session that will last only this weekend.

So far, there are no side events to Rock in Rio announced.

It's not straight across from that place it's further down the beach. What do you mean film ? It seems they are having live music playing as there is a schedule of who is playing displayed.

Yes I was wrong, it is films. We saw the band and that's what confused me. Sorry.
