You can search in Rio transportation website (Portuguese), but it is easier to ask in your hotel.
Where exactly is your hotel? You have to take the 511 bus, but it doesn't stop in every bus stop. Tell me your address and I'll give you the right directions on Google Maps. Cheers
You have to take the 511 bus at the bus stop directly in front of Milano Doc. (a restaurant). Directions: http://goo.gl/maps/W9n45
Note that buses don't stop in every bus stop, so you have to walk to this specific one.
On your way back, take the 512 bus in Urca (the neighborhood where Sugar Loaf is located). Cheers
Is it true that in order to take the trams for Sugarloaf you need to buy the tickets at least 24 hours in advance?. I tried purchasing tickets through bondinho.com but you have to have Brazilian ID's to register. How can you buy tickets if you are foreigner. Any ideas?. I never realized it was going to be so challenging to get tickets. We are going for the World Cup and I can imagine how difficult it would be to get tickets once there, that is why I wanted to purchase the tickets in advance. Pleas help
No, you don't need to purchase tickets to Sugar Loaf in advance. Just go there and make your purchase. The lines generally move very quickly, so it's likely you won't have to wait long to get on the cable car.
Sugar Loaf Information:
Hours: the ticket office opens at 7:30 a.m. and closes at 7:50 p.m.
The park always closes one hour after the ticket office.
The cable cars depart every 20 minutes or whenever full capacity is reached (65 passengers).
Ticket price for adults: R$62
