4 days Rio

Hi, I am going Rio for 4 days. Reaching Rio on July 4th at 8:30am and leaving on 7th at 4:30pm.

First - Want to stay in the heart of the city so we are close to the tourist points, which area or hotel do you suggest? We are not much into beach.

Second - we are just going for 4 days is it working going a day to San Paulo?

Thanks for you help

Four days is the minimum you should spend in Rio, so São Paulo is out of the question, especially for one day. (Your schedule suggests you really only have three days in Rio.)

You haven't stated a budget, which makes it nearly impossible to recommend a hotel. How much do you want to spend per night on a hotel room?

In July you can get a room at the Windsor Palace Hotel in Copacabana for around $200 a night. It's in a good location and gives you easy access to the places you would want to see in Rio.

The "heart of the city" is the beach area in Rio, so even if you're not into the beach, I recommend you have a look at hotels in places by the beach. I would say Copacabana fits your needs. I don't believe you'll find cheap hotels around Ipanema and Leblon (which are more upscale areas).

Another option is looking for hotels which are still in the South Zone of Rio, have subway stations and plenty of buses, such as Catete and Glória. These are two less touristic areas, where you can find deals at tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g303506-d305495… and tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g303506-d209829… There are other places to stay as well.

Ipanema is the place to stay.

Sol Ipanema is a hotel at the beach front, Mar Ipanema is close to the night scene and Arpoador Inn has a better beach scene in a more pleasant area.

SaoPaulo is a big metropolis, the financial capital of Brazil. It has no touristic appeal. Don´t waste your time there. Enjoy your 4 days in Rio and discover that it is, indeed, not so much time to know that awesome city.
