Rio restaurants

I am an Amercian living in Rio who is familiar with the restaurant scene here. Rio is becoming a great foodie city and the prices allow foreigners to sample the best. Anyone wanting info please feel free to ask.

Almost all the up-scale restaurants will be open on Christimas evening.

And they usually have a special menu for that as well.

Most Rio restaurants during Easter 2013 will also be open, many featuring special menus for the holiday.

A really good place to enjoy a nice meal and a breathtaking view are the kiosks at Lagoa. There are many options, but I recommend those: Palaphita Kitch (a bit expensive, however the menu is very unique) and Arab (very afordable price and alive music).

Hi

We are visiting Rio in 2 weeks and staying at the Soffitel on Copacobana. Have you any ideas for some good restaurants as it's a 50th birthday holiday, and any open on a sunday please?

Kind Regards

Kathryn

One of my favorites is the Espirito Santa Restaurant in Santa Teresa.

We will be staying at the JW Marriott too. Is there a good Churrascaria nearby?

Try Porcão Ipanema. Porcão is a churrascaria operating on the rodízio system. It's one price for all you can eat (dessert and drinks are extra). Porcão has four additional restaurants in Rio de Janeiro, including Flamengo, Barra da Tijuca, Niteroi, and Ilha do Governador.
