Best restaurants in Brazil

What are Brazils 10 best restaurants? I know two in Rio - Aprazivel and Za Za Bistro; which others are recommended elsewhere? Stylish or traditional, I don't mind!

Arabia in Sao Paulo is excellent.

Piloa is a great pizza restaurant, also in SP.

Figuera Rubyiat is touted as one of the best in SP, but I found it be average.

There are several places listed on the www.ipanema.com

I have no personal reference on these, but thought I would pass on the information.

I don't know about all of Brasil, but Veja Rio magazine conducts and publishes the result of its annual survey of foodies of the best places in Rio. I assume that the Sao Paolo edition of Veja also publishes such a survey. You can see the latest Rio survey by searching in the restaurant thread here.

What a nice question to answer! Can help with Rio area.

Great italian food, Gero at Ipanema

For meat lovers, the best barbecue place ever, not to be missed, is Porcão Rio's, with great view too, at Aterro do Flamengo.

Thay food, Nam Thay at Ipanema

There is a street at Leblon called Dias Ferreira, where are lined some great places, such as Sushi Leblon, Carlota, Margutta, Celeiro, as well as bookstore, caffés and shops - not to be missed.

Now, for really amazing and expensive restaurants, there it goes:

Le Pre Catelan, at Hotel Sofitel

Cipriani, at Copacabana Palace

Olympe (chef Claude Troisgros)

Locanda de la Mimosa (this one is in Araras, district of Petrópolis, about 2 hours from Rio, and reeeeeally worth it)

Aprazivel is great for the view but I wouldn't call it one of the best in Brazil.

Antiquarius (originally from Rio) in Leblon is a definitely one of the top restaurants besides those listed here.

Roberta Sudbrack is also very highly ranked.

In Sao Paulo, if you don't mind spending some money, I think La Brasserie Erick Jacquin offers some of the best food at pricey but not stupidly expensive prices. Someone mentioned the Restaurant Figueira Rubaiyat, it's quite good and the setting is great, but the food is much better elsewhere.
