Hi, are malaria pills necessary for the Pantanal?

There is no malaria in the Pantanal! Foreigners may be adviced to take Malaria profilaxe, but really, it's unneccessary. It would do you more harm if you'd take it. So please, save them for a trip to the Amazon.

Not only is there no malaria in the Pantanal, we did not see one single mosquito (in the dry season--August.) We had brought malaria prophylaxis but did not take it.
