Is it still possible for out of town visitors to get a free 24-hour parking pass for metered parking at the Ramsey House? How do you prove you're an out-of-town visitor? Once you get the pass, how difficult is it to find a metered parking space? Thanks!

My family on weekends, often find Free parking by going several blocks south of the busiest King Street waterfront area (like near the playground on South Union St., or south of the Safeway grocery) and then walking north to King Street. I'm sure others on this forum, will have other suggestions.

There have been several changes to parking rules and pricing effective July 1st. You can contact Ramsey House directly to confirm if they are still providing one day passes to visitors: Phone: (703) 746-3301.

Visit Alexandria link below shows parking lots (some city and private) located within the historic core.

Paid parking aligns the blocks immediately adjacent to King street and on Cameron and Prince. If visiting on a Sunday there are no charges on the meters; Residential zone parking limits are 24/7/365 and you must pay attention to residential parking hour limits (normally two to three hours). Our Parking Meter Attendents are most efficient. If you are staying for many hours during the day; any lot charging $8.00 is a bargain and cheap insurance against a ticket - this advice also applies for overnight. Most hotels will charge $30 for overnight.
