Looking for bread in Alexandria

We'll be arriving next week and staying @ Wyndham Old Town. Any places not too far away that have good bread that we can buy for sandwiches? I'd prefer whole wheat, but sourdough and other sorts of breads would be fine as well. I'm willing to drive a little ways if I need to as we really don't like grocery store bread.

There is a Whole Foods very close to Old Town, otherwise Urban Spoon has listings if you search for Old Town Alexandria bakeries.

According to google maps, you are only two tenths of a mile from the whole foods. TA reviews indicate many people just walk to the whole foods from the Wyndham. Here's driving directions also

There are so many bakeries on King Street, why not walk down King and get it fresh directly. There are too many to mention, as you can't walk a block without seeing one east of the 1000 block.
